The Redcross Challenge of Feinheit and SRK was a success

In March 2020, Feinheit developed a game for the Swiss Red Cross called the «Redcross Challenge.» After three rounds of play since its launch, over 152,000 questions were answered in nearly 40,000 challenges.

In the third round of matches in the fall, duels against Mujinga Kambundji (left) and Mélanie Freymond (right) expanded the content of the Redcross Challenge.

In the Redcross Challenge, game players could duel against celebrities and learn facts about development cooperation in the process (Werbewoche.ch reported). The online quiz of the Swiss Red Cross has been played almost 40,000 times in the past six months. Over 75,000 interested people have accessed the Redcross Challenge website.

"These are gratifying figures," says Katharina Schindler, Head of Communications International Cooperation at the SRC. More than 80 percent of those who played completed the quiz, which speaks for high quality and fun. "The aim was to convey facts and encourage young people to think about development cooperation issues," concludes Schindler.

With its awareness-raising work, the SRC demonstrates the positive impact of development cooperation. The goal was achieved: The players spent 328 hours dealing with questions on development cooperation. This is the equivalent, for example, of a train journey from Bern to Zurich with 328 passengers playing the quiz incessantly on their smartphones for an hour, answering over 152,000 questions.

"We are very happy with the qualitative elements of the results. They are pretty much exactly what we were aiming for in the pitch at the end of 2019. Various insights that can be gained from the quiz data are also exciting. A small, non-representative insight into the knowledge level of those playing, so to speak," says Moritz Friess from Feinheit. The social media game ran primarily on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.

Switzerland has committed to something. But few of the Redcross players knew that we are not currently living up to it. Currently, Switzerland invests less than 0.5 percent of its economic output in development cooperation.
