WEF meeting has great advertising value for the municipality of Davos
The municipality of Davos does not want to miss out on the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting, despite the significant burden placed on the Alpine town by thousands of participants and security personnel. A study has shown that the promotional value of the four-day event ranges from 80 million to 85 million Swiss francs, says Mayor Tarzisius Caviezel.
"The WEF Annual Meeting is one of the most important economic and socio-political events in the world." Images from the meeting are broadcast around the world. In addition, Davos is becoming known as a platform for dialog, "where conflicting parties can sit down at the same table", says Caviezel.
Around 3,000 participants from politics, business and society are taking part in this year's WEF, which officially opens on Tuesday and runs until Friday. Among others, US President Donald Trump, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are expected to attend. (SDA)
