Marketing Talks: "Meet the Speakers" with Georges T. Roos
The next MK and Werbewoche marketing discussion will take place on September 25. We’ll give you a sneak peek into what makes our speakers tick. This time, it’s our keynote speaker’s turn: Georges T. Roos, Switzerland’s leading futurist.

The next MK and Werbewoche Marketing Talk will take place on September 25 at Kosmos Zurich (all details you can find here). We introduce you to our participants in individual portraits - this time it's the turn of Georges T. Roos, Switzerland's leading futurologist.
Georges T. Roos, founder of a privately financed futurology institute and the European Futurists Conference Lucerne, is Switzerland's leading futurologist. Since 1997, he has been analyzing the driving forces of social change. His diagnoses of the times point to the future of our society in a globalized world, name the challenges, bluntly present the risks, but always emphatically emphasize the opportunities. He has therefore often been called an "optimist for the future.
What is true is that Roos, as a philosophically trained expert, does not want to be seduced by hypes or apocalyptic images, and is thus able to show how the human entrepreneurial spirit always produces leaps forward - in the past, in the present, and directed toward the future.
He is the author of several studies. Most recently published: Megatrends 2038: Challenges for Switzerland; Lifestyle 202X. Versuch einer Zeitdiagnose (2011, out of print); Wertewandel in der Schweiz 2030. Vier Szenarien (2011); Suva Zukunftsstudie 2029 (2009). In 2004, he founded the European Futurists Club Lucerne, which organized internationally renowned future conferences (European Futurists Conference Lucerne 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009).
The international advisory board brought together the leading minds in European futurology. Roos is also a member of the board of swissfuture - the Swiss Association for Futures Studies. swissfuture is a member society of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences SAGW. For swissfuture, he created as study director the futures studies "Wertewandel in der Schweiz. 2004-2014-2024. Four Scenarios" (2004) and "Value Change in Switzerland 2030. Four Scenarios" (2011).
Roos spent the first part of his professional career already during his studies at the University of Zurich in journalism, most recently as a member of the editorial board of a medium-sized Swiss daily newspaper. From 1997, he was a member of the executive board of the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute until he set up his own institute on January 1, 2000.
Roos was born in Basel in 1963, but grew up mostly in central Switzerland. He studied education, journalism and psychology at the University of Zurich and graduated as lic.phil.I.. He is the father of two adult children and now lives in Lucerne.
On September 25, Georges T. Roos will draw a "big picture" and talk about the megatrends that will occupy us in Switzerland in the coming decades. If you now feel like attending our event, you can find the Xing login tool. There you will also find the other speakers of the evening - so it's worth a click!
