SRF back on the Storyclash podium, Watson and Basler Zeitung make gains

July offers some unspectacular but interesting shifts in the Storyclash. The winners include SRF, NZZ, Watson and the Basler Zeitung.

After a turbulent June, the Storyclash ranking, which tracks the social media activities of Swiss media brands and is published exclusively by Werbewoche.ch every month, is returning to a degree of normality. After the previous month's 142% increase in interaction, Blick am Abend lost 63% in July and thus the four places it had gained.

SRF is back at the (almost) top. After a weak June (-3 places), the Leutschenbach-based social media station is back in second place, directly - but still a long way behind - Energy Switzerland.

3+ is feeling the effects of the end of the "Bachelorette" season at the beginning of July, but is (still) just managing to stay in the top 10. Watson is steadily climbing up the rankings, only one place this month, but with a 35% increase in interaction. As a result, the NZZ lost one place despite an increase of 26% compared to the previous month.

The NZZ is actually having a good month. This is particularly evident in the top 10 shared articles. The article that generated by far the most interactions was the commentary "Captain Rackete is not above the Italian law". The article triggered so many reader comments from German-speaking countries that the NZZ had to close the function ("as we are overwhelmed by the comments and cannot moderate them as usual"). Number 2 of the articles also comes from the NZZ, deals with the Rackete case and is a (critical) commentary: Editor-in-chief Eric Gujer shoots in the column "The other view" arrows against the "moral world champion" Germany.

In the past, the Basler Zeitung also repeatedly generated considerable interaction figures with its "anderer Blick". In July, the title returned to the top 10, rising 84% and gaining nine places.
