Too little relevance: MCH cancels Ineltec and security exhibition

150 exhibitors had registered; there were supposed to be at least 350 by the end of January for the combined Ineltec and Security trade show, which in its heyday had over 300 exhibitors each. Now the MCH Group has canceled both trade shows, which will create yet another hole in the Swiss trade show industry—affecting organizers, hotels, and trade show builders.

Sicherheit-Messe

The MCH Group will not be staging the Ineltec and Security exhibitions in 2019. Even the parallel staging of the two thematically related exhibitions was no longer able to halt the decline in exhibitors and visitors. According to the press release, the most important and largest exhibitors had turned down the two exhibitions because they judged the exhibition concept to be "not relevant".

Not only the organizer MCH Group is affected by the cancellation. The cancellation of public exhibitions such as Züspa or Muba, the shrinkage of Baselworld and now the cancellation of Ineltec and Sicherheit also result in losses for the trade, hotels, restaurants and exhibition constructors, which can easily run into millions.

What next? As was already the case with Muba, the MCH Group has indicated that it is working flat out on a new format. A clear visitor target group approach is to be at the heart of this, in collaboration with the two sectors. One is not wrong in assuming that digital transformation will play a role here, and the MCH Group has good people in its own company to do this.
