Vlogger guided through the festival summer
VLOGGING To make the traditional text-and-image-based OpenAir coverage on 20minuten.ch more dynamic and interactive, jim & jim—an agency specializing in youth marketing—designed and implemented a comprehensive video ticker.Video content is an effective way to make media coverage more dynamic and engaging for a young audience. Especially online and on social media, videos have been shown to be viewed many times more frequently than traditional text-based articles. To specifically expand its traditional OpenAir coverage, 20minuten.ch commissioned the agency jim & jim to design and produce an innovative video diary for the summer of 2015. The primary goal was to offer readers the opportunity to experience the festival action up close and in real time.Vlogger from the target group for the target groupAs part of an extensive casting call, two vloggers were sought to cover the festivals for 20minuten.ch readers. The chosen ones were Olivia Maritz (18) and Laszlo Schneider (25). While Olivia, with over 2,000 Instagram followers, was a true representative of Generation Z, Laszlo, with some initial journalistic experience under his belt, provided the perfect counterbalance. The two received training in journalism beforehand and were expertly guided by jim & jim throughout the summer.Ready video reports at the reader in 30 minutesjim & jim was responsible for the concept, content planning, and production of the live on-site segments, as well as the live ticker. The biggest challenge was that the videos had to go live within 30 to 45 minutes so that viewers could experience as many emotions as possible in real time—which was never easy with rowdy spectators, unpredictable weather, and eccentric artists. Throughout the summer, the coverage featured interviews, live challenges with visitors, various polls, and entertaining pranks. The coverage was a complete success and is set to continue in the same style next year. Highlights:
