Posting at the right time on Facebook and Twitter
SOCIAL MEDIA When is the best time to post on Facebook or Twitter? This question is on the minds not only of the social media departments at large companies but also of all those users who want to strategically grow their follower count.Employees of the company Klout have now investigated the topic with scientific meticulousness. Klout is the inventor of the renowned Klout score and is now part of the community platform provider Lithium Technologies. For the analysis, over 144 posts and 1.1 billion reactions to them were analyzed. However, the level of activity on Twitter drops more sharply at the weekend than on Facebook, which is consistently busy on Saturdays and Sundays. However, both networks showed significant traffic spikes after work in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris and Tokyo. Nevertheless, each of these places has its own particular pattern of online activity.Twitter users more responsiveAround half of all reactions to Facebook messages occur within the first two hours of posting. Twitter users are somewhat more responsive, with 50 percent of reactions occurring after just half an hour. It can therefore definitely be worth posting during peak time. The authors of the study developed two rather complex models that can be used to increase the number of reactions to posts. Barbara Fischer, Director Social Strategy Consulting at Lithium Technologies, comments on the results as follows: "Many companies are still hesitant to become active in the social sphere because the channels seem too fast-moving to them. However, our study shows that with the right strategy, you can make your voice heard on Twitter and Facebook. If you follow the tips from the Klout study, you can significantly increase the chance that relevant content will actually be seen and lead to interactions. We would urge companies to take advantage of this report and invest in social. This offers them opportunities for improved brand perception, as they can enter into a direct exchange with their customers and get to know their target group better.
