M3Report makes media response and public opinion comparable
MARKET STUDY The companies GIM Suisse and Adwired are launching the M3Report. For the first time, a market study systematically combines the results of a media analysis with the results of a population survey. The first edition of the M3Report is dedicated to the Swiss energy market. Swiss consumers are expected to be able to choose their electricity supplier freely from 2018. The planned liberalization means a change in communication for energy supply companies (ESCOs): in order to win new customers, they have to market themselves, and the new "M3 Report Energy Market Switzerland" shows that the communications departments of the ESCOs still have a lot of work to do in this regard. The study measures the importance of energy supply companies in Switzerland today. Among other things, it revealed that Swiss consumers on average only know one energy supply company by name. M3Report is a new series of studies for which the market research institute GIM Suisse and the media monitoring company Adwired have formed a joint venture. "M3Report makes it possible for the first time to systematically compare two previously separate disciplines of market observation, namely media resonance and public opinion," says M3Report spokesperson Myriam Bächler. "M3Report Energy Market Switzerland" measures the status of energy supply companies in the media and among the public. One of the findings of the study was that the image of energy supply companies tends to be positive, both in the media and among the general public. However, the presence of the electricity market players is rather low compared to other sectors. Spokeswoman Myriam Bächler says: "We definitely expect a change here in the coming years, as liberalization will certainly make individual energy suppliers more visible. "The "M3Report Energy Market Switzerland" will now be repeated annually - using the same methodology. It will be interesting to see how the presence of energy supply companies changes over the next few years and with the start of liberalization.the first report can be purchased now, until 31 October 2015 at the preferential price of CHF 8,500 (thereafter CHF 9,800). M3 reports for the financial and pharmaceutical sectors are also planned for the end of 2016.
