Fresh ideas for packaging design
PACKAGING INNOVATIONS Finished packaging showcases products perfectly and impresses with its unique appearance. There are virtually no limits to creativity. In the exclusive setting of easyFairs®- At the "Packaging Zurich 2014" and "Packaging Innovations Zurich 2014" trade fairs, students from the "Packaging, Design & Marketing" Master's degree program at Stuttgart Media University will present their innovative exhibits on the subject of "Refined packaging".

Packaging puts products in the best possible light. The demand for high-quality finished printed matter is increasing. Companies want to differentiate themselves in their communication, packaging must clearly stand out from the competition at the PoS, and the "outfit" of printed matter should increasingly reflect the value and image of a company or product. Clients and brand owners have therefore long been looking at a wide range of options for print finishing. Packaging, for example, is coated, die-cut, embossed or enhanced with metallic and haptic effects in such a way that, on the one hand, it reflects the value of the contents and, on the other, conveys value itself. State-of-the-art production techniques also enable previously unimagined added value for high-quality print products. In this context, noble does not necessarily have to be expensive. A new packaging format with a design that can be produced on conventional machines, is also cost-effective and suitable for defined target markets: packaging is a small technical marvel that is becoming increasingly important as a strategic marketing instrument for products and brands - a challenge for everyone involved in packaging development. What is needed at this point are packaging engineers with up-to-date specialist knowledge who combine a demanding mix of technical, economic and design disciplines. Graduates of the Packaging, Design & Marketing master's program at Stuttgart Media University represent this qualification profile. For the first time, they are now presenting their fresh ideas in Switzerland. At their own stand at "Verpackung Zürich 2014" and "Packaging Innovations Zürich 2014" on March 26 - 27, 2014, exhibits from ongoing project work by the course will be on display, as well as designs specially created at the suggestion of a visitor survey by easyFairs® were created. The majority of the trade audience had requested design suggestions on the subject of "Refined Packaging".Preparations for the exhibition are already well underway. What innovations the students will come up with: Dean of Studies Christoph Häberle does not reveal this in advance. However, he knows what his students are capable of: from the marketing plan to the final small series, the budding specialists have mastered everything to do with packaging development. Design and marketing are taught in theory at the Media University and illustrated by real, independently executed project work. All processes from design, calculation, printing, production planning and production, filling, quality assurance to process realization in small series are carried out in modern laboratories and workshops. So much practical relevance is also highly appreciated in the business world. The Media University is in close contact with numerous industrial companies, also in Switzerland. The easyFairs®- Trade fairs "Packaging Zurich 2014" and "Packaging Innovations Zurich 2014" on March 26-27, 2014 in Zurich offer a good opportunity to get in direct contact with the students and be inspired by their designs.
