Mopac modern packaging AG scores with its ecological innovation

The Mopacan, a sterilizable thermoformed tray in which the sheet metal has been replaced by plastic, impressed the jury and won the easyFairs Green Packaging Award. "easyFairs® has been supporting the Swiss Star Awards as a patron partner since 2009," says Sabrina Cassata, Project Manager at easyFairs Switzerland GmbH. "The easyFairs Green Packaging Awards honor innovative packaging that makes a significant contribution to sustainability and protects the environment through new materials, material reduction or new processes. "This year, the company Mopac modern packaging AG from Wasen i.E. received the easyFairs® Green Packaging Award. The Mopacan is a substitute for the classic food can and is produced from a co-extruded PP-EVOH-PP composite and can be securely closed with all common lid variants. Thanks to the optimized stackability of the empty can and the weight reduction even when filled, transport is more ecological. Another positive effect is that the end consumer can heat the contents directly with the tray in the microwave.Ueli Oppliger, co-responsible for sales and development at Mopac, was very pleased with the easyFairs® Green Packaging Award: "This award reflects the thinking we had when developing our packaging. The focus was not only on the unique new packaging, but also on the fact that at the end of the chain the use of this packaging leads to significant positive ecological effects. That's why we are all the more pleased that our Mopacan has won an award in precisely this category. "A statement that can also be applied to the easyFairs® trade fair concept.
