Swissmeme hands over the Storyclash throne to Energy Switzerland
Following Swissmeme's withdrawal from the Storyclash ranking, Energy Schweiz has taken the lead and now holds a clear advantage over its Ringier competitor, Blick.

Swissmeme, the social media dominator of recent months, has apparently decided it no longer wants to get in front of the traditional media and is withdrawing from the Storyclash ranking. The site, which dominated the ranking at will in many respects, was eligible to participate according to the broad, general media definition, but of course not a classic medium in the actual sense.
Energy Switzerland has it coming: Thanks to a strong and successful Instagram focus, the radio group is now the undisputed leader of the rankings. Around two million interactions per month ahead of second-placed Blick provide a comfortable cushion. Energy generates as many interactions per month on Instagram alone as the following three media combined across all channels.
Remarkably, the following places are relatively close to each other. SRF, for example, has moved up to fourth place with a remarkable increase of 40 percent over the previous month and is now only 40,000 interactions behind 20 Minuten. Blick am Abend also made strong gains in July (+43 percent) and should be particularly dangerous for Ringier's youth portal Izzy in the coming month. It seems as if the top ranks are closing in.
Rollercoaster effect and a disturbing interview
In terms of top posts, the best-placed June article did a lap of honor in July and once again took first place: Le Temps ensured a lot of interaction in the social media in the following month with its article about Austria's action against radical Islamists.
In terms of videos, Visit Switzerland scored a viral hit on Instagram with a video of the Gelmerbahn. The roller coaster effect created by Timelapse generated over 70,000 interactions in July.

The video was thus even more successful than the "disturbing interview" by SRF Virus with the Austrian rapper Yung Hurn, which also went viral, and which the radio team at the Openair Frauenfeld punished for an interview debacle the previous year with its behavior that was difficult to classify. The Virus team wanted to ask the avant-garde musician the previous year's questions again, which would actually have been intended for another rapper anyway. The video caused a stir, especially in Germany, and now has over 1.7 million YouTube clicks.
Now that Swissmeme has cleared the stage, we finally get to see which other images perform well (albeit at a noticeably lower level). This month, for example, Energy Bern scored with a photo montage: A baby being baptized with Red Bull ("Tag someone who was baptized like that!") caused a stir among Energy's drink-savvy listeners.
The Austrian start-up Storyclash records social interaction with media content. Every month, the Social News Ranking shows which media providers performed how and which were the posts with the most interactions. Werbewoche publishes the ranking exclusively in Switzerland. (hae)
