The Epica Awards return to Amsterdam and launch two new Grand Prix
Now in its 32nd year, the Epica Awards in Cannes will present two new Grand Prix awards, this year’s jury president, and the campaign created by Wieden + Kennedy.

The Epica Awards are returning to Amsterdam in 2018. The Dutch capital previously hosted the only international creative competition judged by media representatives in 2016 (among other years). According to Editorial Director Mark Tungate, Amsterdam has become one of the most preferred Epica locations over the years due to its creative vibrancy. The jury will meet from November 12 to 15, 2018, and the awards ceremony will take place on November 15 at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute took place. This year's jury president is Tony Chambers, Brand and Content Director of the Wallpaper Magazine.

As it does every year, Epica also unveiled its new advertising campaign in Cannes—this year created by Wieden + Kennedy. The campaign is designed to underscore the competition’s claim to uniqueness.



In 2018, Epica will also launch two new Grand Prix. The Responsibility Grand Prix will honor the most outstanding campaign in the public interest sector. The award is presented in collaboration with the organization ACT Responsible, which promotes public service advertising worldwide, presents the Alternative Media Grand Prix recognizes the best work in categories such as ambient, experimental, events, and stunts.
In addition, the Epica Awards are introducing two new categories: Topical & Real-Time Advertising for campaigns and initiatives that respond to current events, and World Cup Advertising – a category that is held only once every four years and is dedicated to World Cup campaigns.
The Epica Awards are supported by this year’s sponsors and partners: Adobe, ACT, AdForum, Euronews, Lürzer’s Archive, and Screen Vision Media. Werbewoche will once again serve on the jury in 2018 and report directly from Amsterdam. The jury consists of journalists from trade publications around the world—including titles such as Adweek, W&V, Horizont, and Campaign.
