SRF wants to work more closely with ORF and ZDF

SRF plans to collaborate even more closely with public broadcasters in Austria and Germany. The Swiss broadcaster, ORF, and ZDF have agreed to co-productions totaling approximately 140 million euros for the coming year.

This was announced by ZDF on Tuesday. For this year, they had agreed on productions with a volume of more than 100 million euros. Examples of joint offerings include the crime series "Die Chefin," "Die Helene Fischer Show" and the children's guessing show "1, 2 oder 3." Next year's plans include the historical "Ein Dorf wehrt sich - Das Geheimnis von Altaussee" and the children's program "Museum Aha.

"Such a cross-national alliance is not only forward-looking in times of austerity," said ZDF program director Norbert Himmler after a meeting in Vienna. "It brings the three countries closer together."

ORF program director Kathrin Zechner said everyone benefits from the broadcasters' cooperation, "especially the audience in the end. SRF Program Director Ruedi Matter pointed out that funding was becoming increasingly scarce, while global companies had almost unlimited budgets to produce fictional content. (SDA)
