Markus Hammer becomes new Executive Digital Creative Director at Publicis

More reinforcements at Publicis Communications. Just a few weeks after numerous changes were announced within the agency group, the next top executive is already joining the Stadelhofen office: Markus Hammer has joined the overarching «Digital, Social Media & Content» department as Executive Digital Creative Director, effective immediately.

There, together with Head of Planning & Strategy Lucas Conte and Managing Director Digital Frank Lang, as well as a direct link to the business transformation hub Publicis.Sapient, he will continue to drive forward the digitization of the agency group. One of his main tasks will be to develop sustainable brand strategies and communication measures on different projects with individually assembled teams, which are scalable into all relevant channels - especially for clients with an increasingly or exclusively digital media strategy.

Markus Hammer originally trained as an art director and worked at Euro RSCG and Scholz & Friends in Zurich, among others, before moving to Hamburg for five years, where he was responsible for clients such as Otto.de, Telekom, Astra, Leica Camera and TUI Cruises as a CD and unit manager at Philipp & Keuntje, Kolle Rebbe and Yours Truly.

After returning to Switzerland and a short freelance phase, Hammer joined Notch Interactive at the end of 2015, where he was creative director, unit manager and member of the executive board. During his time at Notch Interactive, he was jointly responsible for winning well-known clients such as BMW Switzerland, Fooby, Paymit, CKW and Rivella.

Markus Hammer has received national and international awards for many of his works.

He was responsible for the "Campaign of the Year" for the beer brand Astra, the culinary brand Fooby, which won several awards at BOSW and three gold medals at BCM, and the fall campaign for CSS Versicherung, which recently won gold medals at BOSW and Effie.

Thomas Wildberger, CEO of Publicis Communications, is pleased about the latest addition in a statement: "We have to use technology and creativity for each other. With Markus Hammer, we have someone joining us who, on the one hand, learned creativity the way I did, namely in proven top creative agencies, but who, on the other hand, made the leap into a purely digital world many years ago and has succeeded in doing so, and can therefore combine the two in an optimal way."
