Tages-Anzeiger deletes article about publisher Hanspeter Lebrument

The Tages-Anzeiger has retracted a critical profile of publisher Hanspeter Lebrument.

The portrait, which was largely based on anonymous sources, was published in mid-March. It was entitled "The Old Man from the Mountain" and outlined the career of the editor of the Südostschweiz and the development of the company in unusually pithy terms, underpinned with negative assessments.

The Tages-Anzeiger has now deleted the article because it does not meet the company's quality standards. This made the Weltwoche announced on Thursday.

Spokesman Christoph Zimmer confirmed the information to the news agency sda. The journalist who had written the portrait was appreciated, but in this case it was criticized that the sources were largely anonymous, that Lebrument did not get a chance to speak and that various negative value judgments were not substantiated.

According to Zimmer, legal steps have neither been feared nor announced. There have also been no talks between the publishers of the two media companies. (SDA)
