Roberto Nespeca, a proven expert in modern information technology and digitalization, is taking over as Managing Director and will contribute his experience to the design of future-oriented services for SMD. Nespeca comes from finnova AG Bankware, where he most recently headed up "Document Management", the company's language competence center focusing on language and information technologies, translation services, content management and software localization.

Alexander Theobald, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMD, said in a statement: "I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Roberto Nespeca, an experienced expert in the field of IT and digital information management, for SMD."

Outgoing Managing Director Jürg Mumprecht can look back on a long history of media documentation. He conceived the cooperation between Ringier, Tamedia and SRG, which took the form of SMD in 1996, and has continuously developed it ever since. Milestones along the way have been the acquisition of further partners from the media sector as users and contributors of content, the early adaptation of new technologies in the service of document indexing and the founding of the subsidiary Swissdox, which makes the SMD archive accessible to the public.
