More and more Americans are ordering online while drunk

According to a new survey by Finder.com, 68 million people in the U.S. occasionally shop online while intoxicated. On average, the Americans surveyed spend $447 (about 361 euros) during these shopping sprees—twice as much as they did the previous year.

"We spend a lot of money while we're drunk. This problem totals over 30 billion dollars," says Jennifer McDermott from Finder.com. The most common items are food and delivery orders. This is closely followed by shoes and clothing. The study also shows that men are more likely to place orders while drunk than women.

"It seemed like a good idea at the time. You just get mail and wonder what you've ordered. Then it hits you," explains one affected user. He ordered eyes for the headlights of his car. "The best drunken online purchase I've ever made," he sums up. According to the researchers, millennials are the most susceptible to drunken online shopping.

"You're happy, you're in a good mood, it seems like you really need it at the moment and then the next day... No, I really don't need that," explains user Adam Laino. In a drunken stupor, he had ordered heated branded slippers and an inflatable T-Rex costume for adults. (pte/hae)
