Fumetto gets a fresh face

Just in time for the start of the 2018 program, the Fumetto Festival is unveiling a new look. The website, which went live on February 9, offers a first glimpse.

Behind the communication design is the Lucerne studio C2F (Cybu Richli, Fabienne Burri, Dani Klauser), which won the competition for the new design of the comic festival last year. Fumetto last changed its visual identity in 2008.

With its new look, the festival is saying goodbye to the "X" in Comix, which in the early years emphasized the festival's alternative orientation and artistic openness. In more than two decades, Fumetto has successfully established itself as an international comic art festival.

Art comics have firmly established themselves in the public eye. Programmatically, Fumetto remains true to itself as a comic festival.

Instead of a single star guest, Fumetto 2018 is presenting two extensive group exhibitions alongside international stars such as Richard McGuire from the USA and Anna Sommer from Zurich. "Magma" shows the results of an exchange between Brazilian and Swiss artists. The exhibition is a collaboration with Strapazin magazine and is expected to be shown in Sao Paulo in fall 2018. In "Shelter", Guy Delisle, Hamid Sulaiman and Patrick Chappatte, among others, set out on the narrative trail of the human condition in exceptional circumstances such as war and migration. At the Kunstmuseum, Fumetto will be showing Gustave Doré (1832-1883), one of the very first comic artists.

The complete festival program is now available online.
