Tourism Ireland is launching its first interstellar tourism campaign: A billboard in space celebrates the Irish landscape, which appears in the new Star Wars movie.

A billboard hovering above the ground advertises the "Wild Atlantic Way of Earth" and shows Skellig Michael, a rocky island on the southwest coast of Ireland, also known as Luke Skywalker's hideout in "The Last Jedi". The island of Skellig Michael already appears in the final scene of 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", when Rey finds Luke Skywalker on the top of the island. The landscape shots have already impressed an audience of millions - in keeping with the spirit of Tourism Ireland.

The marketing organization, which is responsible for marketing the island of Ireland as a vacation destination, is therefore celebrating the upcoming film release on 14 December with a first-time campaign in space. The sensational media stunt is designed to ensure that moviegoers are aware of where the universe has such beautiful landscapes to offer. You don't even have to travel to the planet Ahch-to - a trip to Ireland will suffice. (hae)
