Swiss Association of Municipalities says no to No Billag initiative
The No-Billag initiative threatens the 34 regional radio and television stations, which also receive funding, and thus calls into question media diversity and freedom of expression. For these reasons, the Swiss Association of Municipalities has unanimously decided to urge a “No” vote.
"The linguistic and cultural diversity in Switzerland would also be negatively affected," according to Thursday's statement. This would be felt above all in the mountain regions. The initiative will be voted on March 4, 2018. (SDA)
