People with autism can be frightened by social contact
Ruf Lanz explains on behalf of Autism Forum Switzerland: Social interactions can be frightening for people with autism. That is why they rely on others’ understanding.

Autism is only really known to a few people in Switzerland. Accordingly, little understanding is often shown to those affected and their environment. This is why Ruf Lanz was commissioned by Autismus Forum Schweiz in 2012 with a long-term awareness campaign.
According to Nicole Ulrich-Neidhardt, President of the Forum, "Ruf Lanz's campaigns to date have contributed greatly to promoting understanding of people with autism. In addition, the media have become aware of the topic of autism through the campaigns and the many awards and are increasingly reporting on it."
The individual manifestations of autism are diverse. But all people with autism have impairments in social behavior in common. For example, difficulties in making contact with other people. It is true that people with autism also have a desire for social contact. But unfortunately, they find it very difficult to engage in successful interaction. As a result, they have great difficulty in daily encounters with their fellow human beings, which causes anxiety and stress in them. Therefore, they are dependent on understanding and support.
This difficulty and the resulting fear are impressively symbolized in the latest campaign using the example of artistically painted hands. The subjects are used in advertisements, posters, postcards and in various online applications.
