Getyourguide expands in Zurich - and wants to go public in the next few years
The ticket and tour portal Getyourguide is strengthening its presence in Zurich, according to the latest issue of the Handelszeitung.

«Zurich is undergoing a major revitalization,» says Getyourguide CEO Johannes Reck. Specifically, twenty specialists in the fields of software development, product design, and machine learning are currently getting started near Zurich’s main train station. And that’s not all: «Over the next few years, the Zurich workforce will grow to between fifty and sixty,» says Reck.
The Swiss online company, founded in 2008, shifted much of its growth to Berlin starting in 2011, with only a handful of employees remaining in Zurich. Because Berlin has since become more expensive and the job market there has become more challenging, the company is now focusing more on Zurich again, says Reck. This is not a relocation of employees from Berlin, but rather a fundamental expansion.
The company, which has 450 employees and generates about 500 million Swiss francs in revenue, is considering an exit strategy. Reck: «We currently see potential for an initial public offering within the next two to three years.»
