Tribune de Genève editorial staff demonstrates against Tamedia plans
In front of Geneva's cantonal parliament on Thursday, 40 media professionals from the Tribune de Genève demonstrated against the merger of the editorial offices of the Tamedia publishing house in western Switzerland. They handed over a position paper to the Geneva government.

The Tamedia media group announced in August that it would be reorganizing its newspaper editorial team. Starting in 2018, two supraregional editorial offices in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland will provide the mantle for numerous newspapers. So-called competence centers are planned for this purpose in Zurich, Bern and Lausanne. According to Tamedia, no layoffs are planned until the launch on January 1, 2018. The reason for the concentration is the sharp decline in advertising revenues.
In Western Switzerland, the editorial offices of the Tribune de Genève, 24 Heures and Le Matin Dimanche are being merged in Lausanne. Apart from the regional editorial office, many Tribune de Genève journalists are therefore threatened with transfer to Lausanne. (SDA)
