Barbara Lüthi becomes new presenter at the "Club" - program is reorganized

The «Club» is getting a new face. Barbara Lüthi will take over the moderation of the Tuesday evening discussion show at the beginning of 2018. The long-standing SRF TV foreign correspondent will succeed Karin Frei and Thomy Scherrer. There will also be a reorganization of the weekly information talk shows.

Barbara Lüthi, 44, began her television career in 1998 with her own talk show, which was broadcast on the private channel Star TV. She then moved to TV3 as a video journalist. The Zurich native has been working for SRF since 2001. For five years, Barbara Lüthi worked as an editor and reporter for the political magazine "Rundschau". She then became a foreign TV correspondent and reported from China between 2006 and February 2014, before working as a freelance correspondent from Southeast Asia until 2017. Barbara Lüthi has received several awards for her journalistic work, including the "CNN Journalist of the Year" award in 2008.

Barbara Lüthi is now returning to Switzerland and will become the new host of "Club" at the beginning of 2018. She succeeds Karin Frei and Thomy Scherrer, who previously took turns hosting the show. Barbara Lüthi on her new role: "My television career began with a talk show. Now I am returning to my beginnings with a broad range of experience. I'm really looking forward to discussing socially and politically relevant topics with my guests and writing the next chapter in the history of the 'Club' with the whole team."

New editorial team for the weekly information talks

In addition to the new moderator for "Club", there will also be a reorganization of the weekly information talk shows. At the beginning of 2018, the teams of the discussion programs "Arena", "Club" and "Schawinski" will be merged into a new specialist editorial team. This new specialist editorial team will be headed by Jonas Projer, the current editorial director of "Arena".

The individual programmes will continue to be produced by the respective autonomous broadcasting teams and will also retain their independent profiles.
