On the planned Sky takeover, London orders second review
The British government has ordered a re-examination of the planned takeover of the media group Sky by Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox.

This was announced by the British Minister for Culture and Media Karen Bradley on Thursday. The investigation is to be carried out both for competition law reasons and with regard to compliance with journalistic standards.
The 11.7 billion pound (around 15 billion Swiss francs) deal is therefore likely to be delayed by at least six months or could possibly fail altogether.
The American-Australian media mogul Murdoch had already attempted to take full control of Sky in 2011. At that time, a wiretapping scandal at the Sunday newspaper "News of the World", part of his media empire, caused the plan to fail. Journalists had been tapping the phones of crime victims and celebrities and bribing police officers for years. The Murdoch Group already holds 39 percent of Sky. (SDA)
