Field hockey Federation boss Kohler: "We know best how field hockey works".

The ice hockey association wants to have more influence over how the sport is portrayed on television. It is now the producer of the live TV broadcasts.

"Ice field hockey is a lifestyle, and we know best how it works," says association director Florian Kohler in an interview with Handelszeitung. "We wanted to take control of the games."

Since this season, the field hockey association itself has been producing the live broadcasts, whereas previously SRG controlled the production. Kohler promises not to censor any content. "We won't show close-ups of pyros or brawls and we won't stay on for five minutes. But we won't hide anything."

Most matches will no longer be broadcast by the Swisscom channel Teleclub, but by the cable network channel MySports. According to Handelszeitung, MySports owner UPC pays around CHF 35 million per year for the rights.
