Amarula is a South African spirits producer that is best known for its liqueur of the same name, which is made from the marula fruit. Marula trees only bear fruit once a year. Elephants are attracted by their scent and wander for miles to taste them. For humans, this is the sign that the fruit is ripe for harvesting.

It is not least because of this partnership with the gentle pachyderms that Amarula is committed to protecting elephants. It is well known that the animals that have always adorned the labels of Amarula bottles are far from well off. Every quarter of an hour, a poacher kills an elephant in order to get his hands on the unfortunately still highly sought-after ivory.

FCB Cape Town's film "Ivory Tracker" shows that condemning and fighting poachers is not enough. As everywhere, the problem is demand.
