Maxomedia lets learners design website for Media Designer

The Swiss Interactive Media Designers (SIMD) website, which has been completely revamped by Maxomedia, is designed to help attract new training companies.

The association promotes the development of the profession of Interactive Media Designer EFZ. With its new website, it wants to attract new training companies - but also future apprentices can find information about the still young profession here.

"Many companies could offer an apprenticeship. However, they do not know the requirements. The apprentices, on the other hand, know exactly what training companies have to offer. From conception to realization, two of our apprentices were therefore responsible for the project," says Diego Martinez, UX Designer at Maxomedia, explaining the unusual approach.

Bright colors, fresh design

The new appearance of Simd.ch is fresh. Bright colors are intended to appeal to the design-savvy target group. The home page alternates between information for trainers and information about the profession and the association. This is accompanied by a change in the linked subpages. This is not done by changing images as usual, but by morphing. The stars on the start page symbolize the versatility of the profession.

In addition, potential training companies can take part in a short test. The result shows whether the company is suitable as a training center. If the result is positive, the company can immediately register as a training company.

"It takes courage to just let young people do it."

Topsy-turvy world: young people tell adults what is needed. This approach was also a novelty for the association. "It takes courage to just let the young people do it," Martinez continues, "but in the end it was a win-win for everyone. The young people learned a lot and SIMD was able to benefit from their expertise, both in screen design and content."

The SIMD promotes the exchange of knowledge, helps to develop the job profile and offers companies from the interactive media industry a platform to network better. The sponsors include the Paritätische Berufsbildungsstelle für visuelle Kommunikation, Viscom Schweiz and the two trade unions Syndicom and Syna.
