New voices in the morning at Radio La Première in French-speaking Switzerland

Starting Wednesday, new voices will be heard on RTS La Première radio in western Switzerland during the morning news. The previous presenter Simon Matthey-Doret is stepping down after 13 years. There will also be changes at Couleur 3.

The morning show "La Matinale" will be taken over by Romaine Morard (pictured below), who previously hosted the daytime news and the political debate show "Infrarouge" on French-speaking Swiss television.

Program managers also announced innovations at Couleur 3 to the media in Lausanne on Tuesday. "We will increase the share of live broadcasts by 25 hours per week" said Nicolae Schiau, head of Couleur 3. With a total of 16 new programs, the radio station in western Switzerland wants to reinvent the 35-year-old Couleur 3 station.

In French-speaking Switzerland, the program "Couleurs locales," the counterpart to "Schweiz aktuell" on Swiss television SRF, is changing. The program for French-speaking Switzerland will no longer be presented from the studio in Geneva, but by various people from the regions.

Premiere for RTS Director Crittin

Tuesday's programming announcements were the first under new RTS Director Pascal Crittin. He succeeds Gilles Marchand, who became director general of SRG and in turn replaces Roger de Weck.

For Crittin, the changes testify to a "dynamic" RTS. The new broadcasts are the best response in a context in which the financing of the public service is in question. He was alluding to the popular initiative No-Billag, which aims to abolish radio and television fees. (SDA)
