Interpunkt develops VR respiratory protection simulator for the fire department

You can never practice for an emergency enough. That’s why the web and advertising agency Interpunkt developed a training simulator for Asteam’s fire department respiratory protection teams.

Asteam has been on the market since 1992 and is the specialist partner for all aspects of respiratory protection. The company offers courses for fire department respiratory protection personnel to ensure accident safety during operations. The close cooperation with the customer gave the Suhr agency the idea of using the latest technologies to make more effective use of the "courses" division and develop a virtual respiratory protection simulator. Emergency situations can now be practiced with the training simulator.

In the application, the trainee finds themselves in three different rooms that are heavily filled with smoke. They have to recognize a wide variety of objects in a given period of time. A good sense of orientation and quick comprehension are important for this. The simulator is used with virtual reality glasses.

The simulator had its premiere at Suisse Public in Bern. It attracted visitors by the dozen and inspired them. The situation in the application is simulated very realistically and is credibly enhanced by the sound of breathing through the protective mask. As a give-away, asteam ag presented visitors to the trade fair with a pair of asteam VR glasses. The first part of the simulator is available as an app in the Google Playstore, making it possible to practice from home.

Asteam has already received initial inquiries at the trade fair from fire departments who want to integrate the use of the respiratory protection simulator into their training.
