Doping offenders among themselves

What is doping legend Ben Johnson up to these days? It’s the best advertisement for an app that’s supposed to give users an almost unfair advantage.

When it comes to gaining an unfair advantage over the competition, Ben Johnson is a true expert. And a perfect testimonial for a betting app that aims to be superior to all others by increasing performance enormously. The muscular Jamaican-Canadian dual citizen caused one of the biggest scandals in sporting history at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. He set the world record in the 100-metre race, beating his rival Carl Lewis by a large margin. Two days later, he was convicted of doping - using a method that had only been developed shortly before the start of the Games.

Even though certain points were never conclusively clarified - Johnson admitted to doping, for example, but always denied ever having used the drug stanozolol, which he was found to have used - almost 30 years later, the time seems ripe to laugh at the story. For the new Android app from Australian sports betting provider Sportsbet, he appears in a highly amusing campaign together with a cyclist subtly reminiscent of fellow doper Lance Armstrong, a Russian weightlifter called Cheatalotakov and a Chinese swimmer with a remarkable physique.
