The Rhine Falls is one of the most visited destinations in Switzerland: Every year, 1.5 million visitors from all over the world travel to Europe's largest waterfall. For this audience, the Schaffhausen media company Meier + Cie launched a guest newspaper, which was published in time for the season opening on Wednesday, April 12.

The free publication provides interesting facts and practical tips for visiting the Rhine Falls in German and English. The print run of 150,000 copies is distributed via newspaper boxes at well-frequented locations around the Rhine Falls as well as via various distribution partners in public transport, tour operators and tourist offices as well as restaurants and hotels. In addition, the newspaper is also distributed as a supplement of the Schaffhauser Nachrichten, according to a statement.

Stefan Wabel, publishing director of Schaffhauser Nachrichten explains the intention: "With this newspaper, we offer visitors important information and entertainment worth reading about the Rhine Falls - at the same time, we create an attractive opportunity for advertisers to address the 1.5 million visitors to the top destination."

The edition published for the summer season 2017 is a pilot project and will be realized with the support of IG Rhein- fall. In October 2017, the first experiences will be evaluated and a decision will be made about the continuation of the publication in the coming years.
