Flashed and sewn up

Happy Blitzmarathon! Deutsche Bahn is taking it in stride—though some of its Facebook followers aren't quite as amused.

The third Europe-wide speed camera marathon took place on Wednesday. From six o'clock in the morning, thousands of police officers were deployed in Germany to put a stop to speeding drivers. The event, which was already only moderately popular, was particularly controversial this year in the run-up to the event due to the current threat situation. Some federal states such as North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin and Baden-Württemberg canceled their participation - partly on the grounds that the cost/benefit ratio did not justify the high personnel costs. The Mobil in Deutschland e.V. automobile club therefore called for this year's Blitz-Gaudi to be canceled on Tuesday. Without success.

A bigger success was the campaign that BBDO Berlin carried out for Deutsche Bahn. A very obvious, but all the funnier "prank" with the passengers of an ICE train. They were obviously able to laugh about it...

...quite the opposite to many Facebook-commentators who immediately go into high gear when the unpunctual and overpriced train makes jokes. Instead of putting every spare second into improving their service. There's nothing to laugh about! Even if, in this case, it was probably difficult for many. (hae)
