Google pays antitrust fine in Russia over mobile apps
Internet giant Google pays an antitrust fine of the equivalent of 7.9 million Swiss francs in Russia for pre-set smartphone applications.

Google and the Russian Anti-Monopoly Committee reached an agreement in Moscow on Monday to settle their one-and-a-half-year legal dispute. This was announced by the authority according to the Interfax agency. Google accepted the fine and in return the proceedings were dropped.
The anti-trust watchdogs had accused the US company of blocking access to domestic app providers when selling smartphones with the Android operating system in Russia. Yandex, the Russian search engine market leader, had complained that Google applications were pre-installed on the phones.
The EU Commission is investigating Google in three cases. It is investigating whether the company is abusing its dominant market position in Android, shopping search and internet advertising. (SDA)
