30 years of SonntagsZeitung: special anniversary bundle
The SonntagsZeitung will be 30 years old in 2017. Switzerland's most widely read Sunday newspaper is celebrating with a special bundle.

The first SonntagsZeitung was published on January 11, 1987. 30 years later, the SonntagsZeitung is the biggest Sunday newspaper in Switzerland with 624,000 readers (MACH Basic 2016-2). To mark the anniversary, SonntagsZeitung is looking back on three decades of eventful history with an anniversary bundle on March 26, 2017.
The anniversary bundle looks at the biggest primeurs and flops from the past thirty years, and editors from the very beginning tell anecdotes and mishaps from the early days of the newspaper. Fridolin Luchsinger, the first editor-in-chief of the SonntagsZeitung, explains in an interview what characterized the SonntagsZeitung back then. Sport, which has always been important, is also included: The former head of sport, Fredy Wettstein, accompanied Pirmin Zurbriggen, the winner of two gold and two silver medals, for a week during the 1987 World Ski Championships and portrayed him in detail in the first edition of the SonntagsZeitung. This would be impossible with today's top athletes, as Fredy Wettstein explains in his article.

The special edition also shows the visual development of the newspaper and describes how the SonntagsZeitung has become the number one newspaper among readers. The advertising rates for congratulatory advertisements also correspond to the rates 30 years ago. Back then, one page cost 13,652 francs.
The anniversary will continue to accompany the readers of SonntagsZeitung throughout the year. Extraordinary articles from the archive will be regularly reprinted for Sunday reading and marked with the anniversary logo.
