Hangover

You'll believe it when you see it: a medication specifically for hangovers. A campaign is promoting its benefits.

On this side of the Atlantic, it would probably not be allowed to write the word "hangover" on a medicine packet. Selling a drug to combat self-inflicted suffering is probably against the local concept of ethics and morality. People have always taken aspirin, Alka Selzer and other remedies the morning after (or preventively before going to bed), which are officially intended for the symptomatic relief of fever, flu and colds. The bottom line is the same - only the pharmaceutical conscience is clearer.

As you know, everything is very different in the USA. You buy medication in the supermarket. And you fight a hangover with "Blowfish for Hangovers". According to Product page mainly from caffeine and aspirin. Whether there are any major differences to the "Aspirin Caffeine" available here remains to be seen. Blowfish certainly has a much more target group-oriented approach: "yeah, we are the drug company that parties!".

You can think what you like about that. Perhaps the more sensible and healthier solution would be not to go overboard if you have to be productive the next day. Or if you do, you can just spoon up the soup you've made yourself. The campaign takes a different view. The Humanaut agency has at least illustrated the hangover phenomenon beautifully: The toilet head and the octopus head - two useless contemporaries in everyday working life. (hae)
