The company, which is part of the NZZ media group, is concerned about income from the advertising market, which fell by 9.1 percent. On average, the Swiss media lost 13.6 percent in print advertising. The company announced on Friday that Tagblatt Medien had performed better than its competitors.

Revenues from the reader market also declined. This fell by 1.7 percent. Operating expenses fell by 6.9 to 99.4 million francs. According to the press release, the savings were achieved by exploiting synergies with LZ Medien (Luzerner Zeitung, Zentralschweiz am Sonntag, etc.), lower variable costs and measures to increase efficiency. Operating profit (EBIT) amounted to CHF 7.6 million, up CHF 1.4 million or 22.5 percent on the previous year. The EBIT margin increased from 5.5 to 7.1 percent.

Less group profit

Compared to the previous year, the financial and extraordinary result was significantly lower, which was due to the sale of the commercial print shop in Herisau in 2015. Group profit fell by CHF 0.6 million to CHF 6.6 million. The Board of Directors is proposing an ordinary dividend of CHF 90 per share (previous year: CHF 100) to the Annual General Meeting. In addition, shareholders are to receive a special dividend of CHF 80 per share (previous year: CHF 100). According to the communiqué, this is justified by the continued high level of available net liquidity. (SDA)
