SRG SSR launches seven-language integration app
Living together in Switzerland. This is the motto of SRG's integration app "together". Users playfully discover life in Switzerland with a quiz, receive background information and are always up to date with a newsfeed - all in seven languages.

Why are the garbage bags in Switzerland colored? How long is the highway vignette valid? What language is spoken at the southernmost point of Switzerland? What does "facilitated naturalization" mean? The "together" app, developed jointly by all SRG business units, addresses everyday questions, provides answers and offers additional information. The guide to Switzerland from SWI Swissinfo.ch forms the basis for this. The integration app currently comprises ten subject areas with around 300 questions. According to the press release, there are plans to expand the content on an ongoing basis.
According to its mandate, SRG's services must reach everyone in the country - including young people and people with a migration background. By launching the "together" app, SRG aims to fulfill this mandate. Young audiences in particular primarily use tablets and smartphones to obtain information. The new service is designed accordingly: as an app, usable on the move and available "on demand" at any time.
Active role of the users
The SRG's "together" app is aimed at both Swiss and foreign users, newcomers and long-time residents alike - in other words, anyone who wants to get to know life in Switzerland better or test their knowledge about it. In addition to the "together" app, there is also the website Together-in-switzerland.ch and a presence on Facebook. There, users help each other and thus live together in virtual form. Questions and pictures can be sent to the "together" team via an online form. This guarantees the continuous expansion of the app.
The "together" quiz can be played either alone or with or against each other. At the end of each question, in-depth information and further links appear, which can be shared and saved. The results of the game can be shared with friends on social media. Anyone looking for the latest information can find it in the newsfeed. Quiz and information portal in one The newsfeed with SRG content is available in seven languages. Users can find the latest news in one place and are linked to the relevant cantonal integration authorities. The "together" app is therefore a quiz and information portal in one and is available in German, French, Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
Pilot project until 2018
SRG is launching the "together" app on the existing technical infrastructure of the "politbox" app. The latter was launched by SRG for the 2015 federal elections and was an important national multimedia product of all SRG business units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI). The technical infrastructure of the "politbox app" was largely adopted. This meant that the "together app" could be developed cost-effectively. The app will be in pilot operation until June 2018. The SRG Editorial Board will then decide on the future and further development of the app in consultation with the SRG Executive Board.
