Uncensored version of Super Bowl commercial causes servers to collapse

The Brunner agency in Pittsburgh created a 90-second Super Bowl commercial for the lumber retailer 84 Lumber that caused quite a stir.

The US television channel Fox, which broadcast the Super Bowl this year, rejected a TV commercial from the timber merchant 84 Lumber because it was too controversial for the channel. The agency responsible, Brunner from Pittsburg, had to submit a light version.

The theme of the recruitment spot, with which Lumber 84 is looking for new employees, is migration. It shows the journey of a mother and her daughter as they wander across Mexico until their path ends at the border wall. Because many people wanted to see the uncensored long version of the revised commercial after it was broadcast, which the company had put online, the server of the 84 Lumber website crashed. (nod)
