Much manual work

Using the stop-motion technique, the new 15-second TV commercial for the «Aus gutem Huus – Läckerli Huus» campaign was created from just over 1,000 individual frames.

Neither large cameras nor numerous actors or extras are on the set for the new Läckerli Huus TV commercial. Only a small black tent and a futuristic-looking machine can be seen in the studio. And boxes full of chocolates and chocolate creations from the Läckerli Huus. For the new TV spot for the campaign "Aus guten Huus - Läckerli Huus", the stop-motion process is used. In this process, the film is composed of countless individual images, so that at the end, fifteen seconds of moving image are created and the chocolates and truffles dance across the screen as if in a kaleidoscope.

There are good reasons for using the elaborate stop-motion technology for the spot. "The way it is made, with a lot of manual work, fits in with the values of Läckerli Huus. We also rely on traditional craftsmanship in the manufacture of our products," explains Jakob Lanz, Head of Marketing and Sales at Läckerli Huus. The Chocolat creations from the Läckerli Huus range are handmade and are therefore all unique pieces with different appearances. "We wanted to follow this philosophy in the film as well and create something unique and handmade. If we had animated the film on a computer, it wouldn't fit the Läckerli Huus," explain Julian Amacker and Monica Santana Moreno from Walkingframes, who realized the spot.

So for every single frame in the film, the chocolates were repositioned and moved slightly. "The biggest challenge was fixing the chocolates. In order to achieve the desired depth, we couldn't simply place them on a table, but had to photograph them in the air," says Amacker. To make this possible, Julian Amacker and Monica Santana Moreno had to build a fixture specially designed for the spot. The "machine" is controlled by the computer, and puts the "main characters" of the spot in exactly the right position. Even the small parts, such as gears or brackets, were designed by Amacker himself and produced using a 3D printer.

The TV commercial for the campaign "Aus gutem Huus - Läckerli Huus" has been running since November 21 and will continue to run until December 11 in German- and French-speaking Switzerland and online, and shows the wide range of chocolates available from "Läckerli Huus. In addition, promotions are taking place in the stores, public relations measures are being implemented, and an online campaign is being carried out.
