Moser is doing the same as his colleague Constantin Seibt, who announced last week that he was quitting his editorial post at the Tages-Anzeiger to start a new media project. The "noble pen" of the Tagis justified the step with the turning away of the large publishing houses from journalism. Journalists would therefore have to become independent in order to continue to play the role of watchdog of democracy.

With Moser, a second prominent name in the Swiss journalism scene is now joining the project. He reveals to his previous employer the direction in which it is heading: "The plan is for an online magazine that focuses on background and new forms.

Publisher Peter Wanner and Editor-in-Chief Patrik Müller had granted him every freedom in recent years, but this had not changed anything about the fundamental problem of journalism, he says, explaining his departure. With a "great team" he now wants to try to develop the journalism of the future, says Moser. It is not yet known who else will be part of this team. (hae)
