Phone booth repairs smartphones

In London, a company uses the red phone booths as office space.

And that makes perfect sense. As in most places in the world, phone booths have become useless in London due to the omnipresence of cell phones. In England, however, this development is of central importance compared to most other countries. The booths are as much a part of London's cityscape as the double-decker buses and black cabs and are known worldwide as an unmistakable trademark of the United Kingdom. They cannot simply disappear because people now carry their own phones around.

It's good when you can count on innovative solutions. In 2014, the first box converted into a solar-powered smartphone charging station was opened on Tottenham Court Road in London. The company, which specializes in smartphone repairs LoveFone is now going one step further and has opened its first two telephone booth branches. That's about as close as it sounds. A further six boxes are planned, with the aim of operating 35 booths throughout London.

Repairs are carried out in the smallest of spaces. The cramped workplace is probably not everyone's cup of tea. However, the good location in the middle of potential customers makes sense - not to mention the promotional effect. And with the unbelievable prices per square meter in London, it certainly makes sense to limit the premises to the essentials. (hae)
