Faithful stork
The two Croatian storks, Malena and Klepetan, are not only media stars but have also become advertising stars.

The story is simply too good not to be exploited through all channels. The stork cannot fly and therefore lives with a good-natured Croatian. Her partner flies to Africa every year, but then returns to his better half in time to breed. This touching setting made it into the international media years ago. The name of the faithful male stork has apparently changed, so in 2010 it was called the Welt.de Rodan, now he is called Klepetan. But the story is the same and - unlike many internet fairy tales - actually seems to be true.
Malena was shot by a hunter back in 1993 and has been unable to fly ever since. Storks can live up to 35 years. The couple, which breeds every year, has raised numerous storks in the meantime. The return of the partner has long been an event in Croatia and Klepetan is a star. Since the Croatian Tourist Board used the stork love for a campaign this spring, it has also become a household name in this country.
This year, the mineral water brand Jana, together with the agency Imago Ogilvy, also used the stork-like message of love for a high-profile advertising campaign. The big moment was broadcast live via webcam not only in the capital Zagreb, but all over the world and accompanied by all kinds of social media measures. It's not necessarily the most creative idea of all time, but with such a beautiful starting point, it doesn't really need much more to appeal. (hae)
