Reporters Without Borders honors Syrian woman as Journalist of the Year

The organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has named Syrian Zaina Erhaim its Journalist of the Year for 2015. Erhaim decided to return home from a safe country abroad in 2013 and has since trained nearly 100 citizen journalists in Syria.

In addition, she had supported the founding of a whole series of independent newspapers and magazines, ROG announced on Wednesday in justification. "Zaina Erhaim proves through her tireless efforts that alternative reporting on the war in Syria is possible," said ROG executive director Christian Mihr. "She is an example of how journalists, even under the most dangerous conditions, do not give up the fight for independence and for a human perspective on a seemingly hopeless conflict." (SDA)
