A successful start to Epica for Swiss agencies: On the very first day, three Swiss creative agencies—Wirz, Publicis, and Leo Burnett—won the top Gold award.

Since Monday morning, the jury, consisting of representatives from advertising trade media, has been meeting at the Scandic Hotel Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. It is not only the largest, but also the most critical and debating Epica jury so far, as Editorial Director Mark Tungate notes with satisfaction at the end of the first day. It is composed of 27 journalists from Greece, USA, Estonia, Italy, Germany, Norway, Hungary, Slovenia, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Bosnia, Belgium, Serbia, Poland, Italy, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland and France. With Colombia, Latin America is also represented on the jury for the first time in Epica history.

Switzerland has been lucky so far. Only Ruf Lanz and Wirz had to admit defeat in the battle for gold in one category each: Ruf Lanz for Welti-Furrer Fine Art in "B-to-B & Corporate" and Wirz for Tibits in "Consumer Services." However, both campaigns are still in the running for silver and bronze - these results will only be calculated in the coming days.

Nevertheless, Wirz has scored a complete success: the recently deceased Hellmuth Karasek's Literary criticism of the Ikea catalog wins gold in the "Household Products" category with a high score of 7.27. The campaign polarized within the jury, but found many convinced fans due to its extraordinary and self-ironic approach. This was somewhat surprising in that - with the exception of the Horizont colleague - no one could do anything with the name Karasek and almost everyone had to read the (German) text subtitled. However, another fact shows that the campaign is also well received outside the DACH region: the review of the Ikea catalog was awarded this year's top mark by the eleven-member pre-selection jury, which was made up exclusively of non-German-speaking experts. Shortlist chosen. Out of all 4000 campaigns submitted, of course.

Publicis can also be pleased about the highest award. The UBS retirement planning campaignwhich uncomfortably but humorously reminds you that you're getting old faster than you'd like and realize, wins gold in the "Consumer Services (Press, Film & Outdoor)" category. All three films achieved a strong average score of six or more in the individual rankings - the spot "Scroll" was particularly celebrated by the jury and awarded an outstanding score of 7.19.

Last but not least, Leo Burnett Switzerland can also look forward to another golden Epica pyramid in the trophy cabinet (20142 x gold, 1 x bronze). With the campaign implemented for the selfie camera Samsung NX Mini "Self-PortraitsIn the category "Household Products (Personal Electronics & Devices)", the agency won against, among others, the "Household Products (Personal Electronics & Devices)" category, which was created in Italy and launched in June. presented on Werbewoche.ch Samsung NX3000 campaign through.
