Toggenburger Tagblatt now as a complete or regional edition
From January 2016, the Toggenburger Tagblatt will be published with a regional section that can be subscribed to separately. Toggenburg Medien is thus adapting its journalistic offering to the changing needs of its readership.
Toggenburg Medien AG now unites the Toggenburger Tagblatt, the Toggenburger Nachrichten and the Alttoggenburger under one roof. A joint editorial team based in Wattwil currently produces the editorial content for all three titles. From 2016, the newspapers will be united to form the Toggenburger Tagblatt. Subscribers will then be able to choose between two newspaper offers: They will either opt for the full edition of the Toggenburger Tagblatt, with an international and national section and an Eastern Switzerland section, or for the regional section of the Tagblatt and therefore only the local content. The regional section of the newspaper will be published separately from January 4, 2016 and can be subscribed to separately at a lower price.
The two local titles Toggenburger Nachrichten and Alttoggenburger, which are published twice and three times a week respectively, will be discontinued from 2016. "The two titles used the content of the Toggenburger Tagblatt and were therefore very similar in terms of content. Today, this concept no longer makes sense in Toggenburg, which has long been perceived as a coherent region," explains Christine Bolt, President of the Board of Directors.
To this end, the Toggenburger Tagblatt is strengthening its journalistic offering, particularly with regard to economic and political topics, as the NZZ media group writes in a press release on Wednesday. "Toggenburg is lively and is constantly developing into a strong economic and living area. Our readers receive a daily newspaper that reflects this development with even more in-house research and diversity", says Editorial Director and Managing Director Serge Hediger.
