Last but not least: Cover Flow Beta
What Apple's Cover Flow can do, the "Record Selector" from K-Tel could already do in the seventies.
Apple integrated the technology, which allows you to scroll through the covers of your own music collection, into the first iPhone and various iPod generations in 2007. Apple had bought the technology from the company Steel Skies, but was defeated in court in 2010 by another company that claimed the patent. A year later, the ruling was overturned and the Apple users of this world were able to relax and flick through the covers again.
In the days when vinyl was still the number one sound carrier, it was much more difficult to quickly sift through a record collection. But no less elegant, as the company K-Tel demonstrated in 1973 in a commercial for the "Record Selector". The device seems almost more sophisticated than today's touchscreen wipers. Sovereign!
