Springer bundles activities - N24 becomes "Welt

Axel Springer Verlag is consolidating the operations of the Welt Group and plans to rename its television station N24 to Welt in the medium term.

The German media group announced on Tuesday that services and products are to be united under one brand umbrella and will all bear "Welt" in their names in future. This is to take place in stages, with the first step being to harmonize the appearance of N24 and all current offerings of the newspaper Die Welt. However, the company did not specify when it intends to rename the TV channel. Springer bought N24 at the end of 2013 and most recently bundled the channel with the Welt Group in the WeltN24 subsidiary. Meanwhile, Axel Springer and ProSiebenSat.1 are once again flirting with a merger to form a European media giant around ten years after a failed attempt. Insiders told Reuters that the newspaper giant and the TV chain are discussing such a move. (SDA)
