New President at the Publishers of Western Switzerland
Thierry Mauron is the new president of Médias Suisses, the Association of Publishers of French-Speaking Switzerland. The association of private media companies elected the director of the Fribourg-based publishing house Saint-Paul at its general meeting on Friday in Lausanne.
The editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper La Liberté succeeds Valérie Boagno, who had held the position since 2006. She stepped down because she is no longer in a leadership role within the industry. She was the CEO of the newspaper Le Temps. Her 58-year-old successor, Mauron, has been at the helm of Saint-Paul since 2011. Prior to that, he headed the Fribourg Economic Development Agency for several years. In light of the current challenges facing the press, the industry must present a united front, Mauron said in his inaugural address. (SDA)
