Last but not least: bucket trucks

There are far too many traffic fatalities in Brazil. Beverage coolers made from scrapped cars are intended to raise awareness.

According to Federal Office for Statistics 269 people lost their lives in road accidents in 2013. That is 269 too many deaths. Nevertheless, compared to other countries, this is a small number - even in relation to the population. The frontrunner is Brazil: around 48,000 people lost their lives in the South American country last year. Even with a population of 200 million, that is an incredibly high number. Of these, 5000 were in the state of Parana alone, with a population of around 10 million. Even more alarming: half of them were caused by the influence of alcohol.

To raise people's awareness and reduce the number of drunk driving fatalities, the Opus Multipla agency has developed a rather clever campaign on behalf of the Parana traffic department: In bars, guests were served drink coolers made from car sheet metal instead of the usual buckets. Sheet metal from cars that had been totaled in traffic accidents. The message: "The next bucket could be made from your car." (hae)
